Pentagon Installation

After the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the Pentagon Renovation (PENREN) Program Office conducted a thorough "lessons learned" assessment to determine what could be done to improve building safety. The PENREN assessment team invited AfterGlow^® Federal to install a revolutionary photoluminescent Low Level Exit Path Marking System in a large group office and conduct a demonstration with Pentagon employees. After simulating the September 11 blackout, participants evaluated the effectiveness of the AfterGlow^® LLEPM system as a means of guiding them to safety. Impressed by the positive response, the PENREN Program Manager made a decision to incorporate our LLEPM safety solution throughout the Pentagon as a safety-of-life enhancement. Indeed, in a March 7, 2002, interview with former PENREN Program Manager Lee Evey, Mr. Evey commented quite favorably on the LLEPM installation project.
